Welcome to “Write What Remains”!

Thank you for stopping by this little corner of the internet 🌻

My name is Yvonne. In June 2022, a Covid-19 infection brought my world crumbling down. Since then, I have been living with Long Covid (the ME/CFS version) and trying to build something new with the remaining 50 % of my former life. I started this newsletter as a way to learn to live with my set of chronic conditions. Not only do I find comfort in writing and sharing my story, it is also a wonderful way to find connection and feel a little less alone when I’m mostly house-bound.

If you live with a chronic illness, this is for you. If you know someone with chronic illnesses, this is for you. If you love literature and art and questions of justice, this is for you. If you adore cats, this is for you. If you are neurodivergent, this is for you. If you are a human being containing lots of contradictions and complexities, this is for you!

A little bit about me

I am a writer, teacher, and change maker. As a literary and cultural studies scholar, I worked on a number of academic publications, for example US American Expressions of Utopian and Dystopian Visions and Manifeste: Speerspitzen zwischen Kunst und Kultur (Manifestos: Spearheading Art and Culture). Having left academia behind, I now dedicate myself to thinking and writing outisde of it. More recently, I published my first work of fiction, Write What Remains.

Living with a set of chronic conditions in Vienna, Austria, like Long Covid and depression, my cats Luna and Jo bring me a ton of joy 🐈🐈‍⬛

My hope is to create a little corner of honesty and joy, and I am so glad you found your way here. Linger & find your personal glimmers 🌟🌟🌟
